Our Story

Hi. I’m Shozab, a final year dental student in Karachi, Pakistan. I’ve started this shop to realize my designs. Currently I’m really interested in Japanese streetwear specifically city boy or Japanese Americana.

My Dad introduced me to tailor-made clothing when I was 16. Since then I’ve experimented with different fabrics, silhouettes and construction methods.

I started this journey with embroidered shirts. After getting a decent collection ready I was ready to put it out. But i realised that even though it looked really finished and well designed, it wasn’t something I’d be comfortable wearing. And to make something and not be able to wear it didn’t make sense to me.

Around that time I was slowly getting into city boy or the “japanese-americana” style thanks to Percia Verlin (she’s a fashion content creator).

The city boy style emphasises on loose modest cuts with an effort to look effort-less. And that resonates with me. Atleast for now.

And so I came up with the “Strings” collection. I remember when I was in primary school and had to draw multiple straight lines on a canvas without a ruler for an art project. I was pretty happy with my progress until the very end when I sat back and looked at it from afar. No line was truly straight.

I start with a base fabric. And some cotton perle thread in the bobbin. Using sewing thread on the top I start drawing up lines on the fabric. One bobbin usually lasts 2 and a half lines. I change tens of bobbins for one project. I tie up knots in the inside of a fabric when i have to change one in the middle of a line. It usually takes me around 6-8 hours to finish enough fabric for one shirt.

This fabric then heads to my tailor who along with his two brothers do the rest.

Remember, no two shirts will be the same because I don’t know how to draw straight lines.
